Keemun County, which is in the south of Anhui province, is suitable for the growth of tea. As early as Tang Dynasty (617AD-907AD ) it was famous for its delicious tea. Regarding the beginning of Keemun Black Tea, there are two different views. Some believe that it was YU GAN CHENG, who gave up his official position in Fujian province and came back to his hometown for business. He succeeded in bringing out the Keemun Black Tea according to the making procedures of the MIN HONG. Others hold that it was HU YUAN LONG, who gave Keemun Black Tea the birth. He, a Keemun native, found that the black tea was popular in the market at that time. So he set up RI SHUN Tea Factory in 1876 and succeeded in developing the Keemun Black Tea.

Keemun Congou Black Tea, usually called Keemun Black Tea for short , is the gem of Chinese congou black tea. For over one hundred and twenty years, since the year 1875, when it was first produced, it has enjoyed a world renown for having won such titles of celebrity as "the Ace of the three rich-aroma teas of the world " and even having been praised as "The Queen Of Fragrance " and "a prodigy of teas " in London, the largest international market of black tea.
