In February 2001, the board of directors decided to invest RMB130 million to establish the Phase IV new factory. By then, the company will have an annual capacity of optical fiber and cable of 600,000fkm and 3,000,000fkm respectively. On April 7, 2001, Shianfu had a foundation stone laying ceremony of the new factory. In July 2001, The Furukawa Electric Co. Ltd. acquired the Optical Fiber Division of Lucent Co. Therefore it wins the second place in the market share in the world. In October 2001, representatives from China Railway Communication and its branches visited Shianfu.
