And when a band has song titles like “New York City is Full of Pussies” and “Sex Fantasy” and sounds neither like heavy metal nor sexed-out R&B, you know the tongue is firmly planted in the cheek.

Monday, March 3, 2008 My brother passed 5 months ago, yesterday. Haunted by a Clock Radio Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007 finds me astir with golden rays of nature's wake up call crawling through an eastward facing window. Horizontal beams of sunlight escaping the grasp of the tan venetian blinds burn beyond my closed eyelids casting a red shadow into my unfinished dream and abruptly bringing it to a close. The glow is arresting. Squinting, the glare keeps me from making out the thin red digits on the adjacent clock radio balancing precariously on the corner of my faded ebony night stand. From the kitchen the customary clamor of pans, whisking eggs and sizzling sausage betray the intentions of my wife's surprise breakfast. Startled, I begin to peel away the bed sheets as I slide into an upright position leaning slightly forward in a fruitless attempt to dodge the sunlight dancing on the clock radio screen. I am late. The plan was to wake up at 5a. m. in order to meet my brother Paul at the Georgia State Law Library. It has been nearly a month since we have bathed in each other's breath, sharing genial laughs as we are known to do.
